New Entrepreneur TV Show Coming On

Joan Rivers will be hosting a new show called How'd You Get So Rich? Starting Wednesday Aug. 5 at 10pm on TV Land. You can check your local listing to see what channel it will run on in your area. I am really interested to see some of the people who will be on the show. From what I've read they are all entrepreneurs, so I am hoping that the show will be inspiring. Let's all watch and meet back here on Aug. 6 to share our opinion about the show.

What Should I Do Next?

Managing multiple projects can be rough. One of the problems that you find when you do this is trying to figure out which project should get the most of your attention. Almost always this decision is never made and then you are stuck doing nothing. One way that I've conquered this problem is to ask for help. Get help with your projects. Do the things that you do well and out source the rest. This way you can run multiple projects at one time. Allowing others to help you will also help you move your projects along faster. Now you will be able to focus and not feel burned out because you can't make that really crucial decision. In reality this is called being a business owner.

Women Who Serve Women

On Saturday May 9, 2009 Kiwan Fitch, Executive Director of My Sistahz Keeper, Angel Maria Cruz, Mary Kay Independent Consultant and Audrey Bell-Kearney, President of Sister Inc. came together in honor of Mother's Day to share some inspiration with the women of Kintock, which is a half-way house for women who are on their way home after being incarcerated. The morning started out with each of the women telling these women about their story and ended with them sharing refreshments and inspiring last thoughts about how they can do what they want in life if they want it bad enough. The women were given gift provided by other women who made a donation so that they could have some of the Mary Kay products offered by Angel. Audrey gave away books that she authored on how to start a business and how to self-publish your own book. The food for this event was sponsored by sorrority Zeta Phi Beta. This was a great collaboration from women who serve women to help make women who have had a little bad luck feel good about who they are and letting them know that their past does not determine their future.

Motivate Yourself

I have so much on my plate that sometimes it's hard for me stay motivated. I feel so overwhelmed. So when this happens I just stop what I am doing and look at online videos that are motivating and inspiring. This really help to get me back in the grove of things. Another thing that i do is to read good books with inspiring stories. Just knowing that there are people out there doing what I want to do helps to motivate me. I listen to songs that inspire me. Most of the time the songs that inspire me are certain rap songs. So I am sharing this with you to let you know that when you are down in the dumps watch an inspiring video, read an inspiring book or listen to a motivating song to help you get going again.

Essex County College Women's Empowerment Forum

On Saturday I had the great opportunity to be a speaker at the Women's Empowerment Forum at Essex County College In Newark. I had an amazing time talking to the women and sharing my story with them about overcoming obstacles and starting and growing my business. There was one young lady there who was a vendor whom I had met about 2 years ago. I gave her one of the books the I had authored on self-publishing and I was so glad to see that she used the book and went ahead and started her own company and now she is a published author. I will be post short videos from this event over the next couple of days.

Thanks for stopping by

Overcoming Challenges Facing Women in Business

All business owners face certain challenges, but women, because of their gender, often have additional challenges and obstacles that their male peers are less likely to encounter. Working women who have children experience even more demands on time, energy and resources.
But this does not mean women are less successful than men, in fact, statistics show that women are starting businesses at more than twice the rate of male-majority-owned businesses. The growing success rate of women entrepreneurs shows that they are resourceful, and able to succeed, despite the odds.
There are three major areas where women business owners may face challenges, less common to men in business:

Gender Discrimination and Stereotyping Dual Career-Family Pressures
Lack of Equal Opportunities in Certain Industries

How Women Can Overcome Business Challenges
Women often have life skills and natural abilities that are useful in businesses. Women tend to be great networkers, have inherent skills for negotiating, and the ability to multi-task. Single mothers are often good at delegating and budgeting; skills that they rely on to manage their families.
Specific strategies to help women entrepreneurs succeed include:

Create a Strong Network
Consider Certifying as a Women-Owned Business
Understand the Power of the Internet
Learn New Ways to Balance Work and Life
Get Inspiration and Advice From by Other Women Succeeding in Business
Women's Business News: Stay current on issues the present challenges for women in business, and read how other women overcome their own obstacles in the business world.

Creating This Internet TV Show

I am very pleased to be able to present to you our Internet TV show My Sister's Business. This show is produced through my parent company Sister Inc. Sister Inc is a business training and resource company whose focus is on helping women start and grow their business.

Technology is opening up a lot of doors for many small businesses out there. This is one of the reasons we decided to bring you this Internet TV show, that we could lead by example. We want to show other small business owners how to leverage the Internet and all it has to offer to grow businesses beyond their wildest imagination or expectations.

Entrepreneurs today have a wealth of information at their fingertips yet many of them are still missing the boat when it comes to leveraging the Internet and including it as a part of their marketing plan. We are hoping to change that. So we hope that you find our blog helpful and inspirational.
